This is one of the most user-friendly but rarley used extension for Firefox. What this extension does is, after you select a text and right-click on it, you will find a entry in the context menu, asking if you want open the selected text as a link in new tab. If you select this option a new tab will be opened and the selected text will be entered as the URL.
This extension is usefull only when there are lot of URLs written as text intead of hyperlinks. Makes life a lil bit simpler.. :D The only other option for this extension is to select the text, copy it and open a new tab and paste this link.

Firefox extension - ColorZilla
Homepage: link
Mozilla.org: link
Install link: link
Version:0.8.3.1
This extension for Firefox is much suited for web developers rather than people who surf. I like it because I can find the colour code of whatever colour I want.
The main feature of this extension is to find the Hex and RGB values of the colour over which the cursor is located. The interface also supports easy copying of those values to clipboard.
Left click on the extension icon to activate the extension and to look at the value of the colour over which the mouse pointer moves. While the moves pointer moves, the colour values keep changing in the status bar. After clicking the values dont change and the other copying options get activated.
On right clicking on the extension icon, you are given an option to.
- Hide - Hides ColorZilla.
- Clear status bar values - Clear the status bar of the ColorZilla generated text.
- Resample Last location - Find the colour at the same spot where the cursor was last clicked with ColorZilla activated.
- Zoom - Zooms the entire browsing area. (I hate this feature)
- Eyedropper (default on left click) - Select colour.
- Color Picker - Shows a screen where any colour can be selected and its Hex and RGB values found.

Firefox extension - PDF Download
Homepage:link
Mozilla.org:link
Install:link
When I think of some of the best and most helpfull extensions available for Firefox, this extension is a sure candidate for that list.
It is so simple to install and use, all it takes is a click and you are done. After installing this extension you come across any link that leads you to a PDF file this extension will take care of it with a simple prompt.
You can choose to cancel the prompt, download the file to your harddisk, view it as a HTML in a new tab and open it in a new tab.
The "view it as a HTML" option uses Google to display the PDF file in HTML format.

Firefox extension - UrlParams
Homepage: http://urlparams.blogwart.com/share/index.php
Install: Click here
Mozilla.org: https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=1290&application=firefox
The extension UrlParams of Firefox browser displays the parameters and the values sent to the server when we submit a form. These values are displayed in the sidebar. (picture on homepage)
The sidebar gives you the ability to select the parameters that can be sent and if need be you can add your own paramters.
There are two sections in the UrlParams sidebar, One displays the paramters sent using the GET method and the other displays the parameters sent using the POST method. After altering you can press the submit button to have these values submitted or press the submit (new tab) button to open a new tab with the same URL but with new values.
I think this extension will be of good use to Web Developers to debug web applications, as they need not add extra lines of code to their program to display the recieved values. :D
The sidebar also displays the Refer property of HTTP protocol, which can be altered.

Firefox extension - QuickProxy
This extension allows you to enable and disable the proxy server settings quickly in Firefox.
This extension will be usefull for those who either have a direct connection and need a proxy connection to access a private LAN. People who use anonymous proxy servers.
The advantage with this extension is that it places an Icon in the status bar which can be clicked to switch the proxy settings on and off. The settings are pretty much simple, "Manual", "Automatic" and "Auto-detect".
Related tools:Multiproxy.org
The manual setting allows you to set the proxy server in the options screen of firefox and automatic uses the proxy server whose values are already entered.

Firefox extension - IE Tab
If you are a web programmer and want to check compatibility of the web page that you have designed in both Internet Explorer and Firefox, then this is the ideal extension for you.
This extensions gives you the ability to switch to an Internet Explorer rendering engine from within firefox. You will notice the change in the status bar also. You can see the page being downloaded and rendered exactly the way in which Microsoft Internet Explorer would do.
The various options that this extension provides are...
- You have the Icon of the rendering engine on the status bar. You can click on this to switch engines. (Optional)
- You can add sites to the IE Tab list, so that those sites are by default rendered by the IE engine. (Microsoft.com would be an ideal candidate for this list...)
- When you right click on an extension it gives you the option to open the link in a new tab with the IE set as the rendering engine.
- You can select "View this page in IE Tab" in the context menu and the whole page will be reloaded with the IE engine.
- There are more features which are listed in the homepage...

Yeah, one more important thing, you can even run, windows liveupdate with this extension, in firefox. :DFor usability, on a scale of 1 to 5, I would give this extension a rating of 5. As for the rest, I dont give a flying fu*k. :D
I had previously posted a blog on Netscape 8 browser which has this feature inbuilt.
